Derrall was born in California but at an early age moved to Colorado where he lived in a small town abundant with cold clear trout streams, mule deer and beautiful elk. Derrall took to photography at an early age and it has always been a part of his life.
Derrall served in the United States Air Force for four years and is a veteran of the Vietnam war having served there during 1966-1967. Immediately upon discharge Derrall started his twenty seven year career in Federal law enforcement. After retirement he discovered the Ozarks of north central Arkansas and found the area he calls home.
Derrall specializes in landscape photography with an emphasis on wide panorama views. Derrall also enjoys wildlife photography and can often be seen on the White River searching out wild bald eagles and their nests for future photo opportunities. He also loves black and white/infrared photography, a light spectrum not everyone has had the opportunity to see. Derrall is also a custom picture framer whose work graces many a private residence, business or Government office.
Derrall's other passion is trout fishing; he provides a professional guide service on the White River based from Calico Rock, Arkansas.
Patty is a native of eastern Idaho near the rugged Grand Teton Mountains. From there she moved on to Memphis, TN where she graduated school; she has lived and worked in Dallas, Annapolis, MD and Arkansas where she is presently a teaching assistant at our local Calico Rock High School.
Patty loves photography, wanders far and near in pursuit of the perfect image and captures it. She specializes in small wildlife, mini-landscapes and wild flowers; her eye for detail and lighting is uncanny.
Patty is also an accomplished fisher who loves to catch and release rainbow and brown trout; her favorite fish to keep and eat are bass and crappie.
This is our pup "River", she is an Australian Shepherd and we adopted her at eight weeks old. River was eight moths old on Christmas day 2009 and she is quite the handful. River is a herd dog and very energetic but easily trained. River chases her Frisbee twice a day at the local ballpark and travels around town with Derrall in his Jeep and also rides the river with us in our boats.
River is the only pup we know of who writes her own column in a newspaper. River's column, "River's View of The River" can be read weekly in Calico Rock's fine little newspaper, The White River Current, on the outdoor page which is usually page 9. In addition, Derrall and Patty are the proprietors of White River Suites, a tourist and visitor lodging business, located in the heart of Calico Rock. The suites are tastefully decorated and are very modern. Derrall and Patty also manage a beautiful three-bedroom tourist cabin known as Calico Creek Retreat which is totally modern with living, dining, large kitchen with modern appliances, full modern bath and private laundry.
